Arrival Paris

It's been a long 24 hours but we arrived in Paris without incident. There was some concern over our short layover in Dallas which turned out not to be a problem. Caught the train between terminals and made it to the gate just as the plane was loading. Had to smile at a little boy (7 or 8 I would guess) who apparently decided floor polishing was in his future. He scoured the concourse face down on a skateboard with a napkin in his hand wiping the floor as he scooted along. Never saw the lucky parents of the little guy.

Reading, a movie and a little sleep helped the nine hour flight go quickly. We experienced some heavy turbulence during dinner that caused our wine to splash all over. It would have been a big problem had we paid for the wine.

The case of wine we checked in Portland came through unopened and our luggage was right with it. Using a service called "Left Luggage", we stored the wine and baggage so we didn't have to drag that stuff around the airport. 21€ for three pieces for six hours. The airport offers free luggage carts which made our trek from baggage claim to the storage place much easier.

Our six hour stay in the airport allowed us time to buy our museum tickets for next week and do a lot of people watching. And there are a lot of people to watch. We weren't surprised by the very visible security. Still it's a little unnerving seeing so many young guys in camo gear packing automatic weapons.

Now we are waiting for the rest of the group to arrive. We are meeting at the Sheraton which is right in the terminal. Then it's on the bus, open the wine and head to Beaune.

  2. Did I get it right. You took a case of wine with you? Oh but you are traveling with Pete who doesn't want to run out.
